Cam Gigandet, star of Never Back Down, has an amazingly lean body. He really got himself into great fighting shape for his role as Ryan McCarthy. Even though Gigandet got in great shape for Never Back Down, he has maintained a toned look throughout his career. One thing that helps Gigandet stay in shape is that he is active outside the gym. He likes sports such as basketball, skiing, and golf. He's active in self defense, participating in Krav Maga training.

Cam Gigandet's workout routine involved high reps with light weights to fatigue his muscles. He did 3 sets of 20-30 reps, increasing weight on each set. He performed one muscle group per day. He freely admits that his workout is nothing special. He thinks a consistent routine combined with a good diet is all it takes to get in great shape. In addition to his fat burning cardio workout, Gigandet did MMA training as well in preparation for Never Back Down. His diet was low in carbs, high in protein.
